Button Remote for Apple TV Support
Enabling CEC on your TV

What is HDMI-CEC?
HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) is a feature built into most modern TVs that lets connected devices — like your Apple TV and Button Remote — communicate through the HDMI cable.
When CEC is turned on, you can use one remote to control basic functions such as power and volume across your TV, receiver, or soundbar, making your setup simpler and more seamless.
Using Your Button Remote to control Volume, Mute, and Power of Soundbar or Receiver and Turning TV on and Off
The Button Remote for Apple TV is designed to control the volume, mute, and power of your TV, receiver, or soundbar.
It can directly control one device at a time, not multiple. If your setup includes a soundbar or receiver, we recommend programming the Button Remote with that device for the best audio experience.
To have the Button Remote also power your TV on and off, make sure a feature on your TV called HDMI-CEC is enabled. This allows the Apple TV and your TV to communicate power and input commands through the HDMI connection.
Tip:
To wake your Apple TV, press the Menu button. To power off your Apple TV, long-press the Power button or open tvOS Control Center and select the Power icon.
*When CEC is enabled, these same commands will also turn your TV on and off automatically.
Below you’ll find instructions for enabling HDMI-CEC on several popular TV brands.
